After 13 years of absence, Qatar Airways made a momentous return to Damascus International Airport, marking a new chapter in aviation history for Syria. This inaugural flight carried a distinguished delegation of VIPs and executives from Qatar Airways, signaling renewed optimism for the region. The arrival of the Qatar Airways delegation was more than a symbolic gesture. It was a mission to assess the operational readiness of Damascus International Airport. The team conducted a thorough inspection of navigation systems, radar installations, runways, and ground handling equipment, evaluating both active and inactive infrastructure. Their goal: to ensure the airport’s capability to support the resumption of regular passenger flights between Doha and Damascus.

The executives also met with Syrian airport authorities and CAA team to discuss collaborative efforts in restoring world-class aviation standards. This visit underscored the commitment of Qatar Airways to not only resume operations but to contribute to rebuilding and modernizing aviation infrastructure in Syria.


Following the inspection, Qatar Airways executives stayed in Damascus to oversee the establishment of a dedicated station team. This team will be instrumental in supporting the airline’s scheduled passenger flights, set to operate three times a week. FAS-First Aero Services worked closely with Qatar Airways to facilitate and provide on-ground expertise for this flight, ensuring that the station team is fully prepared for the operational demands ahead.
